Glasgow airport is the principal long haul airport in Scotland.The airport is only 8 miles from the centre of Glasgow, easily reached from Junction 28 of the M8.

Some 30 airlines provide services to nearly 90 destinations. Not all destinations are direct flights, and may require a stop-over.

The airport is very busy, handling over 8 million passengers a year.It is the eighth busiest airport in the United Kingdom. The airport has one terminal.

A very substantial investment programme has been implement in recent years, with more than £31 million pounds spent on expanding the terminal building. The extension was opened in 2008. Plans are in hand to expand the airport further, as part of a £200 million investment planned for the next ten years.

The terminal now has an impressive selections of shops, as well as bars and restaurants.
